Reconciliations
Every bank account, credit card and payment processor matched to its statement each month, so your balances are balances you can trust.
Small-business bookkeeping · Fernwood
We reconcile, categorize and match every receipt, then send you a plain-English report and talk it through. One flat price, one bookkeeper who knows your business, and no more Sunday nights with a shoebox.
How it works
The same calm routine, every month: your bank feeds come in on the 1st, and by the 10th your books are closed, checked twice and explained. You answer one short list of questions. That's it.
Bank, card and payment feeds for last month land in your books overnight.
Every transaction categorized, every receipt matched to its line.
Anything we can't place goes to you in one tidy list, never a drip of emails.
Each account ties to its statement, to the cent, before anything else happens.
A second bookkeeper reviews the close. Fresh eyes catch the odd duplicate.
Your report in plain English, and a short call to walk through it.
Every bank account, credit card and payment processor matched to its statement each month, so your balances are balances you can trust.
Sales, supplies, rent, software, that one hardware store run: all in the right place, with rules we tune to your business, not a generic chart.
Snap it, forward it or drop it in a shared folder. We attach each receipt to its transaction and tell you which ones are still missing.
One page: what came in, what went out, what's left, and anything unusual. Then a short call with your bookkeeper to talk it through.
We track what you've collected and remind you a week before each filing is due, with the number ready. Or add filing and we'll file it.
In January we hand your CPA or tax preparer a tidy package: statements, a trial balance, fixed assets and notes. We don't prepare taxes ourselves.
Who we work with
Most of our clients are owner-run businesses with two to twenty people, a card reader, a few suppliers and no time. Pick yours to see what we watch for.
Usually 180–260 transactions a month, so most cafés land on Growing.
Try 220 in the plan pickerUsually 90–200 transactions a month: Growing, or Starter in a quiet year.
Try 140 in the plan pickerUsually 40–90 transactions a month, so most studios start on Starter.

Try 180 in the plan pickerUsually 40–110 transactions a month: Starter or Growing.
Try 70 in the plan pickerUsually 250–450 transactions a month, so busy salons sit on Busy.
Try 320 in the plan pickerPlans and prices
We price by transactions a month, because that's what decides the work. Slide to your number, add what you need, and see a flat monthly price before we ever talk.
One transaction is one line on a bank, card or payment statement. A day of card sales paid out together counts once.
How many months since your books were last up to date. We catch up first, once.

Getting started
Four steps, one at a time. You'll spend about an hour in total, most of it on the first call.
~1 hr of your time, over the whole two weeks
Step 1 of 4 · Day 1
We look at how your books are set up today, how many transactions you have and how far behind things are. You leave with a plan, a flat price and a start date, whether or not you start with us.
Your time: 20 minutes
Step 2 of 4 · Days 2–3
You invite us into your accounting software as a user and connect read-only bank feeds. We send a short checklist and stay on the phone if you'd like. We never ask for your bank password.
Your time: about 15 minutes
Step 3 of 4 · Days 4–10
If you're behind, we bring the books up to date month by month. We tidy your categories, fix old duplicates and set up rules so next month goes faster. Questions come to you in one list, not twenty emails.
Your time: about 20 minutes, answering one list
Step 4 of 4 · Day 14
We close your first month, a second bookkeeper checks it, and we walk you through the report on a call. From then on it's the monthly routine: done by the 10th, every month.
Your time: a 20-minute call
Software
No switching, no new app to learn. We join your accounts as a user, and everything we do stays in your files.
Team
You get one bookkeeper who learns how your business works, and a second who checks every close. When you email, a person you know writes back.
Lead bookkeeper
Cafés, bakeries and food trucks. Can read a card-processor statement faster than most people read a menu.
Bookkeeper
Trades and studios. Matches supply-yard receipts to jobs and keeps the unpaid invoices list honest.
Payroll & sales tax
Runs every pay day and every filing reminder. Has never missed one, and has a calendar to prove it.
Onboarding & catch-ups
The first person you'll meet. Turns a year of shoebox into twelve closed months, one at a time.
Questions
Something else on your mind? Ask it on the free call, or email hello@daybookbooks.example.
One line on a bank, credit card or payment statement. A day of card sales paid out together is one transaction, not every coffee in it. Transfers between your own accounts don't count. Most owners are surprised how low their number is.
No. We work in QuickBooks Online or Xero, and alongside the payroll, payments and receipt apps you already use. If you're on spreadsheets today, we'll help you choose and set up an accounting file in your name.
That's common, and nobody here will make you feel bad about it. We quote the catch-up up front, per month behind, then work through it oldest month first while your current month carries on. A full year usually takes three to five weeks.
No, we keep the books and leave tax returns to the professionals who prepare them. Each January we send your CPA or tax preparer a year-end package with everything they ask for. If you don't have one yet, we can suggest a few local firms to talk to.
Month to month. Give us notice before the 1st and we'll finish the month we're on, hand everything over and remove our access. There's no setup fee; a catch-up, if you need one, is quoted and agreed before we start.
We use read-only bank feeds, so we can see transactions but never move money. We'll never ask for your bank password, by email or on the phone. You invite us into your software as a user with our own login, and you can remove us any time.
Your price doesn't jump because of one big December. If you're over your plan's number three months running, we'll show you the counts and talk about whether a different plan fits, before anything changes.
No. Everything happens online and on calls, and we work with businesses across the state. Local clients are always welcome to drop by the studio on Larch Street for coffee and a walkthrough.
Free review call
Twenty minutes by video or phone. We'll look at where your books are, suggest a plan, and quote any catch-up. No obligation, and we'll never ask for a password.
Rather talk now? Call (555) 014-7720, weekdays 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Twenty minutes on a call is all it takes to know your plan, your price and your start date.
