Website design for estate planning firms

# Estate planning website design that *makes the plan plain*

People put off estate planning because it sounds complicated, morbid or expensive, so the website has to make the first step simple: what a will or a trust does, what it costs and how to book. We design and write it around the plans you offer. Wills, trusts, probate and elder law each get a page on the Pro launch, $999, billed only after you approve a free first draft.

- Free first draft
- Fixed price from $499
- Pay only at launch

We usually recommend the [Pro launch](https://ciderwebsites.com/law-firms#prices): up to 15 pages, $999 once.

## What an estate planning firm website needs

Wills, trusts, probate and elder law in plain words, your flat-fee packages as you state them, and a calendar of workshops.

- **Explainers a family can follow** What a will does and doesn't do, how a revocable trust differs, what probate involves in your state, and what a power of attorney or a health-care directive is for, each in short paragraphs with legal terms defined where they appear. An adult child reading on a parent's behalf should understand it the first time.
- **A page for each part of the practice** Wills and trusts, probate and trust administration, elder law and long-term care planning, guardianship, and special needs planning if you offer it, each on its own page saying who it suits and what the first meeting covers.
- **Flat-fee packages, exactly as you state them** If you offer packages, say a will-based plan, a trust-based plan and a plan for couples, the page lists what each includes and what it doesn't, like recording deeds or funding the trust, in your words and at the fees you give us. We never invent or estimate a fee.
- **Workshops people can sign up for** A page of upcoming workshops and seminars, at the library, a community center or online, each with a date, a place, a topic and a sign-up button that opens your Eventbrite or Zoom registration. When a date passes, taking it down is one of the care plan's small edits.
- **Easy to read at any age** Generous type, strong contrast, a phone number large enough to tap, and buttons labeled in words rather than icons. Many of your readers are retired, and some are reading for a parent who is.
- **Certifications named with their source** A Certified Elder Law Attorney credential shows with the National Elder Law Foundation named beside it, and a state certification in estate planning with the board that grants it. Where nobody holds a certification, the site claims none, as ABA Model Rule 7.2(c) requires, and it avoids the word "specialist" wherever your state restricts it.

## Sample sites we've designed

Sample sites for made-up businesses, designed to show what we do: open one on your phone and try it. On your site, booking and payment buttons open the tools you already use.

## The pages an estate planning firm site usually has

- Home
- Wills
- Trusts
- Probate and trust administration
- Elder law and long-term care planning
- Powers of attorney and health-care directives
- Planning packages and flat fees
- Workshops and seminars
- Plain-language guides: will or trust, what probate is
- Our attorneys
- Your first consultation
- Contact and office

### Which plan fits

Wills, trusts, probate, elder law and powers of attorney are each searched for on their own, and plain-language guides and a workshop page add more, so most estate planning firms need more than a handful of pages. That's the **Pro launch**: up to 15 pages for $999, paid once when you launch.

### What we link

Consultation booking, intake questionnaires, workshop registrations and invoices stay in the tools your firm already uses, and the site's buttons open them. Family details, asset lists and draft documents never pass through the website; they belong in your practice software.

- Lawmatics
- Clio Grow
- Calendly
- LawPay
- Eventbrite
- Zoom

## What to get right

- **Promises a document can't keep** "Avoid probate", "protect your home from the nursing home" or "never pay estate tax" are true only for some families in some states. We write what a plan can usually do, with "depending on how your assets are titled" where it belongs, and you approve every line.
- **Packages that don't match the engagement letter** A flat fee on the site that leaves out what your engagement letter charges extra for, like funding the trust or recording a deed, sets up an awkward first meeting. Each package lists exactly what you tell us it includes.
- **Last spring's seminar on the home page** A workshop date that has passed tells visitors the site, and maybe the firm, has gone quiet. Upcoming events live on their own page and come off as soon as they're over.
- **Words only lawyers use** Per stirpes, pour-over will, intestate: fine in a document, a wall on a home page. Each term is explained the first time it appears, or replaced with everyday words.

## How it works

Three steps, and most of the work is ours.

1. 5 minutes **Tell us about your business** The short form, or a chat with the team. Send photos, your logo, your menu: whatever you have.
2. 5 to 7 business days **Get your free first draft** Screenshots for computer and phone and a private preview link (2 to 3 business days with priority, overnight with rush). Ask for changes in plain words until it's right.
3. When you're ready **Approve, pay and launch** Pay the fixed launch fee only when you're happy. With the care plan, we put the site live on your domain and look after it; without it, we hand you the files to host yourself.

## Questions about estate planning firm websites

**How much does an estate planning website cost?**

Most estate planning firms choose the Pro launch: $999 once for up to 15 pages, with room for wills, trusts, probate, elder law and a workshop page, paid only after you've approved a free first draft. A smaller site starts at $499. Hosting, your domain and 4 small edits a month come with the optional care plan, $49 a month. [See every price](https://ciderwebsites.com/law-firms#prices).

**Should we publish our flat fees?**

Many estate planning firms do, because people hesitate to call without a sense of the cost, but it's your decision. If you publish them, we show the packages and fees exactly as you give them, with what each one includes, and any note you want, such as that the engagement letter governs.

**Can people sign up for our workshops on the site?**

Yes. Each workshop has its own listing with the date, place and topic, and the sign-up button opens your registration page on Eventbrite, Zoom or whichever tool you use. New dates go up and old ones come down as care plan edits.

**Will you write the explainers about wills and trusts?**

Yes. We write the words for every page, on every launch. We write general explanations in plain words from your notes or a short call, mark where the answer depends on the family or on state law, and add a not-legal-advice line. You check and approve every page, since the legal substance is yours.

**Can clients send us their documents through the website?**

Not through the website itself, and that's deliberate: asset lists, deeds and old wills belong in your practice software. The site's buttons open your Lawmatics or Clio Grow intake pages, so anything a client shares goes straight there.

**Will families find us when they search for an estate planning attorney nearby?**

A page for each service, titles that name your town, your address and hours the same everywhere and a filled-in Google Business Profile all help, though nobody can promise a position in search. SEO & AEO care on the care plan keeps working on search and on the questions people put to chat-style search tools.
