The Bluff House
Limestone, cedar and a long blade of water, set into the grass two hundred feet above the sea.
Built for a family who spent twenty summers on the point, the house is one long room of glass facing south, with the bedrooms tucked into the hill behind it. The architects kept the roof low enough that, from the coast path, it disappears.
In the morning the light comes across the pool and onto the living room ceiling; in the evening you watch the ferry lights cross to the headland. The cedar is left to silver. The grasses are the ones that were here before.
“From the coast path, it disappears.”
