Website design for family law firms

Family law website design that makes the first call easier

Someone looking for a family lawyer is often frightened, sometimes reading in secret, and wants three answers: do you handle my situation, will you be kind about it, and how can I reach you safely. We design and write a calm site around those answers. Most family law firms choose the Pro launch, a single $999 fee you pay after reading and approving a free first draft.

  • Free first draft
  • Fixed price from $499
  • Pay only at launch

We usually recommend the Pro launch: up to 15 pages, $999 once.

What a family law firm website needs

Divorce, custody, support and adoption explained gently, a quick exit, and a consultation request that asks how it's safe to reach someone.

  • A page for each kind of matter

Divorce, contested and uncontested, child custody and parenting plans, child and spousal support, adoption, and changes to an existing order each get their own page: who it's for, what usually happens first, and what to gather. A parent searching how custody works lands on the page that answers it.

  • A tone that steadies people

Warm, plain sentences, no war metaphors, and no word about how a case will end. We describe what a first meeting covers and the paths your firm offers, such as mediation, collaborative divorce or court, so readers see they have choices before they call.

  • Safety built into every page

A quick-exit button that leaves the site at once, a short note on private browsing, and a consultation request that asks how and when it's safe to call, text or email. For anyone in danger, the crisis line your firm wants listed sits where it's easy to find.

  • A request made for your conflict check

Contact details, the kind of matter and the other party's name if your conflict check needs it, with a clear note not to describe the situation yet and that sending it doesn't make the firm their lawyer. Or the button opens your Clio Grow or Lawmatics intake form instead.

  • Fees and retainers in plain words

Whether the first consultation is free or paid, how a retainer works, and any flat fee you offer for an uncontested divorce or an adoption, exactly as you state them. Many people won't ask about cost on the phone, so the page answers it for them.

  • Your attorneys, and certifications named properly

Each attorney's photo, bar admissions, the work they do and the languages they speak. If someone holds a family law certification, the body that granted it is named beside the title, as ABA Model Rule 7.2(c) asks; without one, the site claims no certification and avoids the word "specialist" wherever your state restricts it.

The pages a family law firm site usually has

  • Home
  • Where to start
  • Divorce
  • Child custody and parenting plans
  • Child and spousal support
  • Adoption
  • Mediation and other ways through
  • Changing an existing order
  • Our attorneys
  • Fees and retainers
  • Your first consultation
  • Common questions
  • Contact and safe ways to reach us

Which plan fits

Divorce, custody, support and adoption are separate searches from people in very different moments, so each needs its own page, alongside where to start, your attorneys, your fees and the consultation. That's the Pro launch: up to 15 pages for $999, paid once when you launch.

What we link

Consultation scheduling, intake questionnaires, retainer invoices and client files stay in the practice tools your firm already runs, and each button opens the right one. Sensitive details belong in those systems, so the website collects none of them, and new software later is a new link.

  • Clio Grow
  • Lawmatics
  • MyCase
  • Calendly
  • LawPay

What to get right

  • Promising how it will end

"We win custody", "keep the house" or a list of settlement figures promises what no lawyer controls, and can break your state's advertising rules. We describe what your firm does and how it works, and you approve every word.

  • Fighting words

"Aggressive", "bulldog" and "we fight for you" frighten many readers who hope to settle quietly, especially parents. If trial work is your strength, we say so in factual terms instead.

  • A form that asks for the whole story

A big open message box invites someone to describe abuse, affairs or money to a firm that hasn't run a conflict check, possibly the one their spouse already called. A short request with a clear note keeps the details for the consultation.

  • No way out of the page

Without a quick exit or a safe-contact question, someone reading on a shared laptop or phone takes a real risk. Both take a few lines of design, and every family law site we make has them.

How it works

Three steps, and most of the work is ours.

  1. 5 minutes

    Tell us about your business

The short form, or a chat with the team. Send photos, your logo, your menu: whatever you have.

  2. 5 to 7 business days

    Get your free first draft

Screenshots for computer and phone and a private preview link (2 to 3 business days with priority, overnight with rush). Ask for changes in plain words until it's right.

  3. When you're ready

    Approve, pay and launch

Pay the fixed launch fee only when you're happy. With the care plan, we put the site live on your domain and look after it; without it, we hand you the files to host yourself.

Questions about family law firm websites

How much does a family law website cost?

Most family law firms choose the Pro launch: $999 once for up to 15 pages, enough for divorce, custody, support and adoption pages, paid only after you've approved a free first draft. A smaller site starts at $499. The care plan, $49 a month, is optional and covers hosting, your domain, 4 small edits a month and support. See every price.

What is a quick exit button, and does our site need one?

It's a button at the top of every page that leaves the site at once and opens a neutral page, and on many sites pressing Escape twice does the same. Anyone reading about divorce or custody on a shared device may need it, so we add it to every family law site and a short note that browser history still needs clearing.

Will you write the divorce and custody pages for us?

Yes. We write the words for every page, on every launch. We start from a short call or your notes, explain each process in general, plain terms, describe how it usually goes in your state only as you tell us, and add a not-legal-advice line. You approve every page before it goes live.

Can we mention our results in custody or divorce cases?

Only as far as your state's rules allow, and family matters rarely suit it: every family is different, and a past outcome can read as a promise. If you want them, we add the results and reviews your firm approves with the disclaimer you give us; a link to your Google reviews is often enough.

Can clients pay a retainer or book a consultation through the site?

Yes, through the tools you already use: the consultation button opens your Calendly or Clio Grow booking page, and a payment button opens your LawPay page for retainers and invoices. The website itself never takes a payment or keeps case details.

Will parents find us when they search for a custody lawyer nearby?

Separate pages for custody, divorce and support, titles that name your city, and a complete Google Business Profile all help, but nobody can promise a place in search results. For ongoing work on search and on chat-style answers, add SEO & AEO care to the care plan.
